Canterbury Museum

Update from Museum Director

Posted: 19 July 2011

Work is continuing at Canterbury Museum in readiness for a potential re-opening to the public on 2 September. While confirmation of this date is still dependant on final sign-off from the engineers and CERA, we are feeling optimistic about it becoming a reality.

Adrienne Rewi has written a fantastic blog post on the New Zealand Museums website about Canterbury Museum’s situation following the earthquakes. You can find it here: http://www.nzmuseums.co.nz/news/wake-up-call-for-canterbury-museum/

As we prepare for re-opening, staff continue to work on projects within the Museum, including getting 'permanent' gallery displays fully re-instated and catching up on a variety of back log tasks.

Keep an eye on our website for re-opening dates and the special exhibitions and events we have planned to celebrate.
