Sunlight - Life and Time

Discover how the Sun has been a dominant force influencing the patterns of life on Earth.

Sunlight – Ihi Kōmaru, developed at Te Manawa, is an interactive experience that tells the story of the Sun and how it has shaped the world around us.

Key Learning Areas: Nature of Science – Investigating and Communicating in Science; Science – Planet Earth and Beyond

 Duration: 1.5 hours

 Suitable for: Year 1 – 6, maximum 30 students

 The Education Programme

 Guided by our educators, your students will:

  • experience the Sunlight – Ihi Kōmaru exhibition

  • investigate light and shade and how this relates to the Sun and to the movement of the Earth relative to the Sun

  • understand that the Sun is the centre of our solar system

  • examine the importance of the Sun to life on Earth.
