Canterbury Potters Association 49th Annual Exhibition
Visitor Lounge, Level 3
This annual exhibition celebrates the creative excellence of Canterbury Potters Association (CPA) members, who range from experienced practitioners to students and passionate amateurs.
The CPA has held its annual exhibition, now in its 49th year, at the Museum since the early 1990s. However, with the Museum's redevelopment on the horizon, this is likely to be the last time we will host them before the new Museum is open.
Works displayed will be for sale and include a wide range of sculptural and functional pieces.
The exhibited works were chosen by guest selector, Nelson ceramicist Royce McGlashen. Royce, one of New Zealand's leading potters, received an MBE in 1989 for his services to pottery in New Zealand. At his Brightwater studio he produces a wide range of tableware, ceramic art pieces and paintings. Hand decoration and interesting surface treatments have always been a feature of Royce's work.
A selection of Royce's work will be on display at the exhibition.
