Our Museum: Inclusive and Imaginative

University of Canterbury MBA student Kase Craig recently completed a year-long project examining how the Museum might be made more accessible to neurodiverse visitors.

Kase's project combined a design thinking process with inclusive design principles to come up with new ways for neurodiverse visitors, particularly those with autism, to experience the Museum. 

As part of his research he interviewed neurodiverse people and their carers, spent time observing organisations that regularly help people with autism and even became an autism support worker.

He developed ideas for modifying the Museum environment in collaboration with the Museum and the autism community, and produced prototypes to test them out.

Kase's project is showcased in an exhibition in the Visitor Lounge. In this free public event, Kase will guide visitors through the exhibition, discussing his MBA project and how neurodiversity has the potential to shape the experiences of our visitors in our redeveloped Museum for the betterment of everyone.
