Stitching History

This exhibition is no longer on display at the Museum.

Help tell the story of Balclutha-born Trooper Clutha Nantes Mackenzie by adding a stitch or two to the 45th panel of the Mount Felix tapestry.

Panel 35 of the tapestry

Walton-on-Thames stitcher, Anne Candler, who worked on one of the panels back in the UK, will be in the Visitor Lounge on select dates.

Whether you’re an expert or not, you’re invited to help create the new panel while enjoying the larger story of the No 2 New Zealand General Hospital which is told in the tapestry. During World War One 27,000 New Zealand soldiers were treated at the hospital and became part of the Walton-on-Thames community.

This exhibition is no longer on display at the Museum.
