Landing a jetpack for the Canterbury Museum 

This is the story of how two jetpacks became part of the Canterbury Museum collection.

The P9 jetpack was created between 2003 and 2007. Canterbury Museum 2022.76.1. The P11 model was tested in flight from 2009. Canterbury Museum 2022.76.2.1

A pair of jetpacks made and invented in Christchurch by the Martin Aircraft Company were the first acquisitions made by Canterbury Museum Associate Curator Human History Frances Husband for the Museum.

She tells the story of how these extraordinary inventions came to be considered for the permanent collection and details their development and history.
