Construction of the new base-isolated storage basement and five-level building for the redeveloped Canterbury Museum is now officially underway.
In the early hours of 9 October, a procession of concrete trucks began to stream onto the Museum redevelopment site. Over 7 hours, the trucks delivered tonnes of concrete for the first major pour of the project. You can watch the video above to learn more about this major milestone, including how many truckloads of concrete it took to complete the pour.
This was the first of nine big concrete pours that will run for the rest of this year and into 2026.
