Canterbury Museum's Rolleston Avenue site is undergoing a major redevelopment. We've opened a pop-up Museum for visitors while we are out of the main building. Around half the space is dedicated to collection highlights and visitor favourites from the Museum’s permanent galleries, and the other half displays temporary exhibitions.

Christchurch's bus service provides convenient and affordable travel into central Christchurch. The central bus terminus is just 10 minutes walk from Canterbury Museum at CoCA.

The Canterbury Museum Pop-up is a short walk from Cathedral Square and central Christchurch hotels. From the pop-up Museum it is a short stroll to Quake City, Ravenscar House Museum, Te Puna o Waiwhetū Christchurch Arts Gallery, The Christchurch Arts Centre and the Botanic Gardens.

You are very welcome to take photos and video in the Museum provided they are for your own use and not for commercial purposes.
This includes photos of people – but please ask the permission of others – as well as our exhibitions, events, building interiors and most collection objects.
Sometimes an object cannot be filmed or photographed for cultural or other reasons, for example to protect a fragile object. This will be indicated by signage.
You are allowed to use selfie sticks, but you must seek permission to use other equipment such as tripods and monopods at least 24 hours in advance.

CoCA Toi Moroki is a leading art gallery in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Located on the ground floor, the Ō Papa Gallery hosts a changing exhibition of contemporary art from established and emerging Waitaha Canterbury and Aotearoa New Zealand artists.
