Passionate about the natural world, Morgane's background is in entomology and science communication.
These interests cover a wide range of topics such as behavioural ecology, community engagement around insects, museum natural history collections, and invertebrate outreach. Morgane's PhD research focused on better understanding how native New Zealand stick insects use their appearance for camouflage, how behaviour contributes to camouflage, and how they are perceived by would-be predators. She also presented the children's television show 'Bug Hunter!', supported by NZ on Air and hosted on TVNZ+.
As the Museum's Science and Curatorial Communicator, Morgane works across multiple teams and projects. She contributes to public and education programmes, aids in content creation for communication and marketing, and supports the curatorial and exhibition teams for the delivery of new and exciting exhibitions. She also has strong collaborative links with various other Ōtautahi Christchurch institutions, such as the Libraries and Art Galleries.
Alongside her role at Canterbury Museum, Morgane maintains an active academic profile as an Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Canterbury, where she contributes to teaching, outreach, and research. Morgane is the Outreach Officer for the New Zealand Entomology Society, and a committee member for Bug of the Year.
