Ōtautahi Christchurch Festival of Archaeology 

Come celebrate archaeology with us!

Try your hand at excavation, take part in archaeology themed activitie and talk to archaeologists about their artefacts and work. Discover what it takes to be an archaeologist in this hands-on family event or Archaeology Week 2026. Complete your archaeologist passport and you'll have the chance to create your own Festival of Archaeology badge with Canterbury Museum. 

9 May, 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House, 83 Clyde road. 

Entry by Koha.

There is no parking onsite. Free parking is available in the University of Canterbury's Art Road carpark, which is a 5-minute walk from the property. Otherwise, you can take the 120 bus, which stops outside on Clyde road.
