Ōtautahi Christchurch Festival of Archaeology

Come celebrate archaeology with us.

Have a go at excavation, examine real objects like a moa bone and learn about Kiwi history at the Festival of Archaeology at Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House on Saturday from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm.

Complete your archaeologist passport and you’ll have the chance to create your own Festival of Archaeology badge with Canterbury Museum.

This event is a collaboration with Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga, Christchurch Archaeology Project, Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House, Pūtaringamotu Riccarton House & Bush, Te Ūaka The Lyttelton Museum, Underground Overground Archaeology, Ngāi Tahu Kā Huru Manu and the Department of Conservation.

Please note: While the outdoor archaeology events are free, entry to Kate Sheppard House is $15 for adults, free for children.
