Discover some of Waitaha Canterbury's most precious treasures

On 1 October 2020, Canterbury Museum celebrated 150 years since opening on Rolleston Avenue.

To mark this anniversary, 150 objects from the Museum’s collection were chosen for a commemorative book titled House of Treasures: 150 Objects from Canterbury Museum Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho.

This travelling exhibition presents five of those treasures, ranging from a moa skull to a Samoan tatau chisel. The remaining treasures are showcased through a digital display with information and stunning photographs taken by Jane Ussher.

Don’t miss this opportunity to get a glimpse of the wide range of treasures Canterbury Museum cares for on behalf of the people of Waitaha Canterbury.
