Evening Exploration Extravaganza

Hunt bugs at night and discover the exciting creepy crawlies that come out after dark.

Join Canterbury Museum Science Communicator Dr Morgane Merien for a twilight bug hunt in the Bioblitz Bonanza Evening.  Venture into the former residential red zone to discover what interesting bugs come out at night in Christchurch. Take photographs of what you find and upload them to the iNaturalist app to let the world know about our city’s biodiversity. The bug hunt is part of the City Nature Challenge 2025 and will put Christchurch biodervsity on the map. Bring your torch, warm clothes and a camp chair for hanging out.

The Bioblitz Bonanza Evening will run at the Climate Action Campus, 180 Avonside Drive on 25 April from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm. Come meet the scientists behind the iNaturalistNZ App and explore our night-time nature, recording what we find for the City Nature Challenge.
